A new dessert shop opened up last week, just in time for the holidays! The Peach Cobbler Factory has a wide variety of delicious desserts that team member Mikaela tried; keep reading to find out which one was her favorite.

The Peach Cobbler Factory

  • What: A dessert shop started in Nashville in 2013 by Juan and Tami Edgerton that has expanded into 20 states and appeared on the Food Network.

  • Menu: Various mouth-watering desserts, including:

    • Peach cobbler

    • Banana pudding

    • Cinnamon rolls

    • Belgian waffles

    • Ice cream and shakes

    • Cookies and brownies

  • The winner isā€¦ Team member Mikaela said the red velvet banana pudding was her favorite menu item!

  • Details: The Peach Cobbler Factory is located at 1116 Eastchester Drive in High Point. Hours are Monday-Sunday, 12-10 PM.

  • A Christmas Carol - High Point Community Theatre performs a musical rendition of the beloved Christmas tale at High Point Theatre. Available through Sunday.

  • Holiday Pop-up Bar - Little Brother Brewing creates a one-of-a-kind holiday destination, complete with festive cocktails and Christmas decorations galore. Available through December 17.

  • Winter Concert - The Bel Canto Company and Gate City Voices present ā€œHarmonious Holidays,ā€ a concert of holiday tunes, at Christ United Methodist Church. Also available Sunday.

Saturday, December 9

  • Kidsā€™ Craft Workshop - Kids 5-12 can create 2D and 3D holiday crafts at The Art Gallery at Congdon Yards. 10 AM

  • Baubles & Brews - Paint an ornament while enjoying a drink at Summerfield Farms. 3 PM

  • Holiday Vendor Market - Shop the wares of more than 15 artisans and makers at Stock + Grain Assembly. 10 AM - 4 PM

  • Candle Dipping - Learn how to make a candle the old-fashioned way at High Point Museum. 10 AM - 4:30 PM

  • Wine Tasting - Taste 15+ wines that are perfect for the holiday table at Lewis & Elm. 2-4 PM

  • Bar Crawl - Dress up in holiday attire while bar crawling to participating downtown businesses, starting at Boxcar Bar + Arcade. Proceeds benefit Junior Achievement of the Triad. 3-9 PM

  • Holiday Ballet - The Greensboro Ballet brings The Nutcracker to The Carolina Theatreā€™s stage. Available through December 17.

  • Thomasville Christmas Parade - Camels, floats, marching bands, and more make their way through downtown Thomasville starting at the corner of Julian Avenue and Main Street. 11 AM

Sunday, December 10

  • Winter WonderPark - High Point City Lake Park will be glowing with festive holiday lights and decorations. Enjoy train and carousel rides, mini golf, and more. 4-8 PM

  • Candles & Carols - Light a luminary and go on a caroling stroll through the Dunleath Historic Neighborhood. 6-8 PM

  • Kidsā€™ Paint Party - Kids 5-16 are invited to paint an ornament and canvas at Stock + Grain Assembly. Hot chocolate included! 2-4 PM

  • Merry Makers Market - Browse through a European-inspired holiday market at Centennial Station Arts Center with the High Point Arts Council. 1 PM

Other News

  • New Restaurant: Harvest Boards & Bowls is now open in Stock + Grain Assembly. The salad and charcuterie restaurant is perfect for those seeking healthy meal options.

  • Upcoming Project: Construction on a new Topgolf is underway off of I-40. The popular sports entertainment complex franchise features a high-tech golf game, hand-crafted food, and a sports bar.

  • Charity: High Point Universityā€™s Student Government Association donated nearly 500 meals to Open Door Ministries. This was made possible by HPU students who donated extra meals from their dining plans.

  • Project Complete: After several years of being under construction, the Lake Daniel Greenway Bridge is complete.

  • Government: High Pointā€™s new mayor and city council were sworn into office Monday, December 4. These civic leaders will serve until 2027.

  • City Services: Greensboroā€™s Interactive Resource Center (IRC) is expanding its homelessness services to include 24/7 care thanks to the City Council allocating funding to support this expansion.

  • Coming Soon: Dive Bar will open its fourth North Carolina location in High Point on December 27. The bar features arcade games, claw machines, billiards, darts, and more.

  • Running of the Balls - Run or walk beneath a canopy of colorful Christmas balls in the Sunset Hills Neighborhood on December 16. The event benefits Second Harvest Food Bank.

The Arts Councils of Greater Greensboro, Creative Greensboro, and High Point have announced the findings of a recent study showing the industry's economic activity and impact during the fiscal year 2022.

  • $240 million in total industry expenditures in Guilford County

  • $235 million in total industry expenditures in the City of Greensboro

  • 4,335 jobs

  • $134 million contributed to the personal income of residents in Guilford County

Trivia:

An integral component of the sectorā€™s success was the significant event-related spending by arts and culture audiences, which totaled a notable $133.8 million.
