November 28 is Giving Tuesday. Below are just a few of the many amazing non-profits based in Greensboro and High Point you can support!

The Nutcracker will be performed at the Tanger Performing Arts Center in Greensboro this year (December 7-10). Since 1966, this ballet has showcased the talent of hundreds of UNCSA students who bring the holiday tradition to life as dancers, musicians, and theater designers. Thursday, November 23

  • Running of the Turkeys 5K - Start off your Thanksgiving with a 5K at Jaycee Park! Donations benefit shift_ed, a non-profit organization. 8:30 AM

  • Greensboro Gobbler 5K - Run through downtown Greensboro in this 5K/1 Mile Fun Run event supporting Greensboro Urban Ministry. Races start at Center City Park. 8 AM

  • 5 Before the Feast - Participate in a 5K or 1 Mile Fun Run at Truist Point. All proceeds benefit youth programs at the YMCA of High Point. 8:30 AM

Friday, November 24

  • Holiday Musical - Dr. Suess’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas! The Musical comes to the Steven Tanger Center. Available through Sunday.

  • Christmas Festival - Create memories at McLaurin Farms with light show hayrides, pictures with Santa, and much more! Available through December 30.

  • Craftsmen’s Christmas Classic - Shop at the art and craft festival at Greensboro Coliseum Complex as it celebrates its 50th anniversary. Available through Sunday.

  • Nostalgia Night - Get ready for a Y2K dance party at Boxcar Bar + Arcade with DJ Wawa. 7 PM - 1 AM

  • Christmas at the Farm - Shop from over 60 local vendors and artisans at The Farm while enjoying music, lights, and hayrides. Also available Saturday.

  • Hot Cocoa Wagon Rides - Board Summerfield Farms’ wagon for a ride around the farm while you enjoy a cup of hot cocoa. 1-4 PM

  • Block Party - Enjoy s’mores, bonfires, live music, and more at this family-friendly event on Church Avenue. 4 PM

  • DIY Workshop - Make your own candle at Pinspiration. Available every Friday through December 15. 5-8 PM

  • Kringles Adventure - Decorate cookies, visit Santa, and make a Christmas wreath at Millstone Creek Orchards. Available through Sunday!

Saturday, November 25

  • Concert - John Berry’s 27th Annual Christmas Tour comes to High Point Theatre. 7 PM

  • Cocktail Class - Craft your own festive cocktail at Summerfield Farms. 2 PM

  • Holiday Market - Find unique Christmas gifts made by local artists at Hidden Gate Brewing. Bring the kids along for a Santa letter-writing station and a chance to see the Grinch. 12-5 PM

Sunday, November 26

  • Nutcracker Tea - Take your family to a holiday tea featuring a performance of The Nutcracker. 11 AM and 3 PM

  • A Motown Christmas - Carolina Theatre presents a family-oriented show combining Motown's greatest hits with everyone's favorite holiday classics. 7:30 PM

  • Small Brewery Sunday - Win free treats and swag from All Pets Considered at Joymonger Brewing Co. 1-4 PM

Other News

  • Giving Tuesday: United Way of Greater High is collaborating with Stock + Grain Assembly for “Dine with Purpose Day.” On November 28, 10% of Stock + Grain’s sales will go to supporting United Way's impactful community programs.

  • Scoring: Greensboro received a perfect score for the third year in a row in the Human Rights Campaign’s Municipal Equality Index. Greensboro and Chapel Hill were the only cities in North Carolina to receive a perfect score.

  • Ranking: WalletHub ranked Greensboro as the 9th best city for Thanksgiving. The ranking took into consideration multiple factors, such as the cost of a Thanksgiving dinner and the number of volunteer opportunities available.

  • Sports: The UNCG Spartans secured their first win in program history against a Top 25 opponent - the Arkansas Razorbacks - last Friday.

  • Calligraphy Class - Sip & Script offers a beginner calligraphy workshop and ornament lettering at The Cottage on November 29.

  • Hip Hop Nutcracker - Watch a contemporary dance spectacle in this re-mixed and re-imagined version of the classic ballet at the Steven Tanger Center on November 30.

  • Festival of Lights - Bring the family to City Center Park on December 1 for a tree-lighting ceremony, community sing-along, Santa, carolers, and acoustic performances.

  • Greensboro Holiday Parade - The annual parade returns to downtown Greensboro on December 2, featuring huge balloons, professional floats, dance and drill teams, and school bands.

  • Christmas at the Carolina - Watch Polar Express, sing along with a historic pipe organ, and take pictures with Santa at the Carolina Theatre on December 2.

  • High Point Holiday Stroll - Experience the sights and sounds of Christmas as you stroll through uptown and downtown High Point on December 2.

  • Candle Workshop - Make your own Christmas candle at The Mantel Mercantile on December 4.
